Eighteen major insurers, reinsurers, underwriters and brokers worldwide have signed up to the Trust Trading secure e-commerce platform, one of the first services offered by the WISe e-commerce insurance network.

Firms involved in Trusted Trading include Aon, CGU, Allianz, Generali, Swiss Re and six Lloyd's underwriters.

WISe, an 80-member non-profit company established last June, aims to exploit electronic commerce through collaboration and information sharing.

Trusted Trading will allow member businesses to conduct transactions over the internet. Services include an audit trail that copies documents exchanged by e-mail; encryption of information; digital signatures and notification to senders if information cannot be delivered.
