Industry stalwart joins broker’s board as non-exec

Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) has named former Norwich Union, Aviva and Association of British Insurers (ABI) boss Richard Harvey as a non-executive director.

Harvey was NU chief executive from 1998 to 2000 and subsequently with Aviva where he was group chief executive from 2001 to 2007. He was chair of the ABI from 2003-2005.

Geoffrey Howe, JLT chairman, said: "We are delighted to welcome Richard to the JLT Board. He has been a leading figure in the insurance industry both in the UK and internationally for many years.

Multi-national experience

“His experience both in insurance and as CEO of a major multi-national business will be of enormous value to us".

"For 12 months after retiring from Aviva, Richard worked in Africa with the development charity Concern Universal amongst some of the world’s poorest people.

“Since his return Richard has continued to work part time for the charity, for the Africa Progress Panel and for the IFC arm of the World Bank.
