Philippe Tamwelius joins Lloyd's insurer's Sweden office
Markel International has appointed Philippe Tamwelius as a senior liability underwriter for Markel International Sweden.
Tamwelius has spent more than 22 years in the insurance industry. He worked for eight years at AIG Europe S.A. in both Paris and Stockholm, where he was chief underwriter for professional liability insurance. In addition, he worked for RSA Scandinavia for two years, where he managed a team of 12 senior underwriting managers for all commercial lines insurance products. He also held positions with Zurich and Trygg-Hansa.
Tamwelius will be based in Markel’s Stockholm office.

His appointment follows that of Tomas Nilsson as a claims manager in Stockholm earlier in the year.
