50 claims jobs are at risk in Chesterfield as Markerstudy removes third party team from the site

Insurance and broking group Markerstudy is putting 50 claims jobs in Chesterfield at risk as it removes its third party team from the site. The move follows a review of its claims operating model.

It is currently undergoing a consultation and looking to create a new first party claims team in Chesterfield, which it hopes will lower the number of redundancies. Markerstudy group underwriting director Gary Humphreys confirmed that other Chesterfield vacancies are being “ring fenced” for those at risk.

Humphreys said: “We have reviewed our claims operating model across the business and the proposal has been made to restructure the Third Party Team; specifically to remove the third party team from our Chesterfield site.

“As a result of this proposal circa 50 employees have, regrettably, been put at risk of redundancy.

”However, to minimise the numbers of potential redundancies, a new first party claims team is being created at our Chesterfield site. In addition, other vacancies at Chesterfield have been ring fenced for those at risk of redundancy.”

Humphreys added that he was unable to comment further due to legal reasons, saying: ”Our on-site HR business partner is currently consulting with the affected employees and therefore it would be inappropriate for us to comment further until consultation has closed and a decision been made by the business. We recognise that this is a difficult time for those affected and they have been offered support during this process.”
