Bristol and Lancashire based medical group UMS to form core of healthcare division

Oval has acquired Bristol and Lancashire based company United Medical Services (UMS).

UMS is a corporate private medical insurance advisor currently handling the healthcare needs of over 1250 clients, accounting for an annual GWP of around £15m.

Matt Millard and Tom Burfitt, formerly Directors and founders of UMS, will continue to run the Bristol and Lancashire offices. UMS will be renamed Oval Healthcare and will form the core of Oval’s new health care division.

Burfitt said: “UMS has been built on delivering high quality professional independent advice. These values are synonymous with the Oval group. The formation of Oval Healthcare will allow us to deliver innovative healthcare solutions to both existing and new clients of the group, whilst enabling us to design even better products with our key insurance partners.”

Jeff Herdman, Group managing director of Oval added: “UMS provides an extremely professional advisory service to its established client list, including managing schemes with Trade Bodies, Federations, Associations and Co-operatives.

"By acquiring UMS, Oval can further develop this area of healthcare expertise, working with the very best professional healthcare advisors.”

UMS provides group private medical cover and permanent health insurance. It was founded in 1991.
