Acquisitive broker forms new retail broking team

Oval's former energy and special risks division has been merged into Oval International, the groups' Lloyd's broker.

Oval International will serve as a specialist marine and energy broker, and will operate under the leadership of managing director Dominic Donoghue, broking director Andrew Hills, and technical compliance leader Richard Platt. The team has 30 staff.

Oval has also created a new London retail broking team whose primary focus is on placing UK risks into the London market.

Leading a team of 10 staff are Simon Fitzgerald and Richard Wigmore who will be expanding the team during 2008, including the appointment of a new leader for Oval’s Casualty placement.

Patrick O’Connell regional managing director of London said: "Oval, like any fast growing company will restructure wherever needed in order to provide the best possible service to our clients.

"This move will mean that Oval is better able to focus the service we deliver to our UK and International clients via our experienced, skilled and dedicated professional brokers."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
