PwC partner Jim Bichard has become the accounting firm’s new London market insurance head.

He will be responsible for the firm’s activities across all areas – audit, tax and advisory - to the Lloyd’s, London Market and major broker markets.

He replaces Gavin Phillips, who has moved to head up PwC’s insurance and asset management assurance practice.

Bichard has been at PwC for 16 years, including five years in the New York practice.

He said: This market continues to be a very dynamic one and I look forward to making sure that we offer the very best of the firm’s thinking to our clients.”

PwC’s UK insurance leader Jonathan Howe added: “I would like to thank Gavin for his fantastic achievements in the role where he has moved us forward in all areas not just in client service but also talent development. I am delighted to welcome Jim into the team. This is a very important market for our insurance practice and one where we have established a leading presence.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
