De BOER Structures has developed a fast-response service to help disaster-hit companies, with a 24-hour hotline to respond immediately to calls for temporary buildings.

Commercial director Chris Pomphrey said the new initiative should be highly attractive to insurers, who could save on claims if businesses could continue trading after a disaster by using temporary accommodation.

“Temporary structures are highly flexible,” he said. “When there was a major fire at one of Heathrow Airport's terminals several years ago, we offered to provide a temporary terminal that could have been quickly constructed to allow the airport to continue working normally.

“Similarly, we could supply smaller structures at major disaster scenes which could be used as medical areas, administration points or rest areas.”
