Reactions to £600m cash-call rumour and Solvency II fears

RSA’s shares fell 1.8p to 122.5p as it refused to comment on rumours it was to raise £600m that analysts believed would be for an acquisition or a pension issue, rather than for balance sheet concerns, the Guardian reports.

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) warning that insurer might need to raise £50bn as a result of Solvency II also hit shares.

RSA’s shareholders appear ready to back the fundraising.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
