Long-term strategy urgently needed to tackle the rising flood risk, Aviva says
Aviva said today's decision to reduce flood defence spending is 'disappointing'.
An Aviva spokesman said: "The Government obviously recognises the need for continued investment in flood defences, but today's announcement means that the funding will not be kept at current levels and this is disappointing.
"The Statement of Principles on flood insurance comes to an end in 2013 and we urgently need a long-term strategy to tackle the rising flood risk that thousands of homes and businesses face now and in the future."
