Lloyd’s broker Tysers has appointed a new chief operating officer (COO) after the former COO left the role 16 months ago.

Stuart Blakeborough joins Tysers from Lancashire Insurance Group where he was COO. Prior to that he worked at Hardy Underwriting Agencies and Aon.

He has more than 25 years’ experience in the London insurance market.

The former COO Quintin Heaney stepped down suddenly in August 2013 and the role has been vacant since then.

Tysers chief executive Chris Elliott said: “We are delighted that Stuart is joining our senior management team. His leadership and knowledge in both broking and underwriting operations will be a great asset as we continue to work towards the future growth and development of the group.”

Blakeborough added: “I am looking forward to this new challenge and was drawn to Tysers by its excellent long-standing reputation in the market and the considerable potential the company has for the future.  It is an exciting time to join Tysers and I look forward to contributing to its development.”
