Appointments follow sudden exit of Willis Limited CEO Brendan McManus

Willis Group has appointed Daniel Wilkinson as chief executive of Willis UK & Ireland. Brendan McCafferty has been appointed as president.

Wilkinson will lead 1,100 associates in 22 offices across the UK. He has been at Willis for 16 years. Recently he has worked across the corporate, credit, insolvency and private finance initiative arms of the Willis division.

McCafferty is currently managing director of Willis UK & Ireland’s commercial and network businesses.

The Willis division has been led by group president Grahame Millwater on an interim basis.

Millwater said: “Dan has a long and distinguished track record at Willis UK and will provide vital energy and renewed focus on the essentials of our business. Dan and Brendan together have a deep understanding of all our offerings and our clients’ needs.”

Wilkinson said: “I’m excited at the opportunity to lead a business to which I have devoted a substantial portion of my career in insurance and which I’m so passionate about.”

The two appointments follow the shock departures of Willis Limited chief executive Brendan McManus and Willis International chief executive David Margrett, who both left the company last week.

Millwater will assume McManus’s responsibilities on an interim basis.The company said a new Willis Limited chief executive will be named for FSA consideration in the coming weeks.
