A round-up of the latest insurance stories online

Web traffic spiked this week when online readers scrambled to view our latest 'In pictures' photo gallery. The snaps from last month's IT Pack gathering in Manchester, at which ex-England rugby star Kyran Bracken gave an inspirational talk to young brokers, received a huge number of clicks – catapulting it to the top of this week's story rankings.

Traffic also surged when the industry learned about the death of Beazley co-founder Andrew Beazley. His death sent shockwaves around the London market and caught the attention of other sites including Bloomberg.

Following online coverage of Philippe Maso's exit from AXA Insurance – last week’s most clicked story – it was no surprise that our mystery blogger Sid's take on the development ranked so highly this week. Our exclusive subscriber content, including a reactive analysis and timeline of Maso's AXA journey, was also a hit.

Meanwhile, our exclusive story on how MMA was set to bid £70m for up-for-sale motor insurer Provident – revealed first online – caused quite a stir when it landed in inboxes.

Our story about a future flotation at broker Hastings Direct was also popular, as was news about the latest broker to feel the back of the FSA’s hand.

On the website we also revealed details of Brokerbility Group's acquisition of Northampton broker O'Connors.

And you may also have noticed our live coverage of the Insurance Times Global Leaders Forum. In a first for our website, online readers were kept updated with all the action as it happened in a live blog and regular updates on Twitter. Don’t forget to follow us.
