Intermediary Kwik-Fit Insurance this week embarked on a £10m five-year deal to upgrade its IT systems as part of a move to bolster market share in the personal lines sector.

The intermediary selected systems from software house CSC and implementation is scheduled for completion in mid-2001. CSC will support the system over a five-year period.

Kwik-Fit managing director Eric Sanderson said: “The new system will put us at the forefront of new technology in the industry and will give us the flexibility of delivering our product through different forms of communication.”

Kwik-Fit will deploy three of CSC's systems across its 800-screen call centre near Glasgow, which handles 15,000 calls a day and contacts one million customers per year.

Kwik-Fit selected CSC's point of sale system, Visual Quote; 3r Evolution, a customer relationship management system; and Vision, a Windows-based package from Applied Systems allowing intermediaries to create websites suited to their own needs.
