Defaqto predicts more aggregators will further blur view

Defaqto’s report Motor Insurance 2009: Another Bumpy Ride says consumers are confused by 140 insurers offering more than 200 different policies and more aggregators will make it worse.

Mike Powell, principal consultant for general insurance, said: "The motor insurance market provides so much choice for the consumer that it can be very confusing when choosing an insurance provider.

"Online comparison and research sites are becoming more popular with confused consumers. But the ever increasing number of aggregator sites could just add to all of the confusion."

Focus on features

Powell said the best way for consumers to reduce their confusion is to focus on the policy features that are important to their own circumstances.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
