Law firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain has launched an online tool for calculating the settlement value of cases, taking into account projected legal costs for both claimants and defendants.
The 'Litigation Risk Assessment Calculator' takes into account factors such as the amount likely to be won if the case were successful in court, the legal costs to date, the estimated legal costs to resolve the case, the amount of interest that would be payable on the award and the chance you have of winning on decisive legal issues.
It is a simplified version of a computer model developed by one of the firm's partners, Robert Hogarth.
