AM Best has assigned an A (Excellent) rating with a stable outlook to Kiln's syndicate 510.
The ratings agency said the move reflects the syndicate's excellent current and prospective operating performance, in addition to the financial strength of the Lloyd's market, which underpins all Lloyd's syndicates.
A spokesman said: "It is a recognised market leader in the five main business groups it operates — accident and health, aviation, marine/special risks, property and reinsurance — enabling the syndicate to determine pricing and underwriting terms.
"Recent premium growth has further enhanced the syndicate's market position."
AM Best added that the syndicate has a record of strong operating results. Profitability is forecast to return for the 2001 year of account (2.5% on capacity) despite a sizable loss incurred from the World Trade Centre attacks of £96.7m.
The syndicate also has an excellent market profile for many of the short tail classes in which it specialises.
