Providing breakdown insurance may be more than what the AA bargained for.

According to the AA, its patrols are still amazed by some of the bizarre 'breakdowns' they come across. Here are just a few:

  • A Telford patrol was called to wake up a 93-year-old woman who had fallen asleep in her locked car. The member had lost her keys and the elderly woman had taken out her hearing aid
  • Patrols were called out to nudist camps where members had lost their keys. The keys were later found in trousers that for obvious reasons had been discarded
  • A Norfolk patrol helped a farmer who was locked out of his car after a pig activated the central locking with his trotter
  • A patrol had to cut a cat free after it got tangled in the fan belt where it had gone for warmth.
  • The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
