ActiveGeo is to follow up the success of its aerial photography claims tool, ActiveSnap, with a ground level system.

The ActiveONSITE system uses 360-degree photography to map built-up areas.

The system is designed to give underwriters a virtual look at shop and property risks before writing policies, without leaving their desks.

It could also help motor claims handlers in assessing liability and the likelihood of fraud.

An ActiveGeo spokesman said: "Users do not see the 360-degree format.

"The system unpacks the image to give a flat picture.

"The user can then zoom in and out and take a virtual walk down a road looking left and right."

Insurers including Royal & SunAlliance, Fortis and Norwich Union are thought to be in negotiations to sign up to ActiveSnap.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
