As solicitors gear up for after-the-event insurance when legal aid virtually disappears in April, brokers are being warned they could miss out if they do not recommend pre-paid legal expenses cover to their clients.

Ray Kneeshaw, DAS sales and marketing manager, said that conditional fee arrangements will be a major opportunity for solicitors but not for brokers.

He commented: "Fortunately, there is a chink in their armour. Though the legal profession dismisses the role of brokers in the CFA market, it concedes that the cost of CFAs will probably increase; they could become unaffordable to most people."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
