AIG has delayed its application to expand into China.
In its results report it acknowleged that "certain of its Hong Kong-based agents sold life insurance to customers on the Chinese mainland in contravention of applicable regulations."
AIG said it would wait until regulatory issues were resolved before pursuing opportunities in China.
