Backchat thought he had seen it all until new marketing literature for AIG's accident and travel product, Lifeline Plus, arrived this week. In the style of a fairy tale, the booklet tells how the “good people” from AIG Europe defeat the evil Status Quo.

Status Quo, a hairy troll-like creature and arch-conservative, rules the land of group PA and travel with an iron-fist that would make African dictators blush. He also doesn't give many perks with his insurance products.

Then “the good people from AIG Europe” challenge him with their liberal and decadent ways – and their fancy new policy. Good overcomes evil, and everyone lives happily ever after.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
