Alan & Thomas is set to become the high roller of the insurance world.

The Bournemouth-based brokers have joined forces with Independent Insurance to launch a motor insurance scheme for Rolls Royce and Bentley car owners.

"We have been selling policies to Rolls Royce and Bentley owners for the last six years, so we already have a customer base," said account executive Mark Hassell.

"The deal with Independent Insurance will also enable us to sell a range of high net worth policies from cover for yachts to home and contents."

Hassell adds that rates are comparatively low considering the high value of the cars, not only because drivers tend to be middle aged but also because thieves find the cars unattractive.

"Owners normally have secure garages and the cars are too conspicuous for thieves to target," Hassell explained.

Benefits include:

- Master repair scheme including a three-year guarantee on all accident repairs undertaken by an authorised Rolls Royce and Bentley repairer

- Free courtesy car of equivalent status to the policyholder's vehicle (not applicable to classic cars)

- Free European and UK breakdown and recovery service

- Unlimited foreign use

- Legal expenses cover up to £50,000

Last year, about 700 Rolls Royce and Bentleys were sold in the UK, and there are estimated to be about 16,000 in the UK overall.
