JLT Pet Insurance, part of the Jardine Lloyd Thompson group, has expanded the benefits and cover of three of its products.

The insurer of cats and dogs is best known for its Paws policy, which has been available from vets' surgeries for more than 20 years. The Paws range caters for the broad spectrum of pet cats and dogs, from pedigree animals to crossbreeds.

Cover on the Paws policy for compulsory treatment under the direction of a vet has risen by £1,000 to £3,500.

The range of treatment covered has also been widened to include hydrotherapy, chiropractic and osteopathy.

A review of the policy's benefits has given rise to several improvements, including the introduction of holiday cancellation cover of up to £500.

Benefit levels generally increased for emergency kennelling, accidental death and personal accident cover.

These increases also apply to JLT's two other policies, Pet Lovers, a mid-range policy for both pedigree and crossbreed cats and dogs, and Moggies and Mongrels, a low-priced cover for crossbreed pets.

David Jones, manager at JLT Pet Insurance, said: “We have undertaken a fundamental review of these three policies which has been driven by the feedback we receive from customers.”

He added that the three policies should now offer the full spectrum of pet insurance cover.

JLT Pet Insurance has more than 70,000 policies in force for pet cats and dogs.
