Following the recent story about MI5, Biba and the ABI (News, 13 January), Backchat has unearthed more of the goings-on in the dark corridors of MI5.
Sources revealed that MI5's go-between in its dealings with the industry was John McLaren-Stewart, DTI small business council member and chief executive of broker Alliance. McLaren-Stewart apparently met MI5's chief spy Eliza Manningham-Buller at a CBI event and has since been a regular visiter to the spooks' HQ.
