Allianz Cornhill announced today it has served a petition seeking permission to appeal the Clark v Ardington decision in the House of Lords.

Technical claims manager Bob Rabbitts commented on the move: "There are matters arising out of the Court of Appeal judgment that go far beyond issues surrounding Helphire alone. Insurers are faced with some potentially worrying consequences, which we regard as being of public importance.

"Our actions need not stand in the way of our seeking an across-the-board-deal to amicably settle pre-ABI GTA (Association of British Insurers General Terms of Agreement) credit hire and repair claims and we are already in contact with Helphire for this purpose."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
