North Ireland broker to use online time-recording system

Software provider Alphatec has secured its first deal in Northern Ireland with Belfast based broker Willis & Company.

The deal sees Willis & Company using Timebox, a specialist online broker productivity and profitability tool, to enhance its firm profitability and to provide more accurate billing to clients.

David Grier, managing director of Alphatec, said: “Brokers recognized that a clear view of their business’s operational costs and the ability to identify the most profitable clients, products and services is important. Being able to do this in a simple and cost effective way also makes good business sense. We are delighted to be working with Willis & Company, who have recognised the importance of this approach, as our first client in Northern Ireland.”

Peter Lennon, director of Willis & Company, added: “As the industry moves increasingly towards a fee rather than commission-based payment model, the importance of getting to grips with our own productivity has become an important internal issue for us.

“The system has already provided us with valuable management information and as a result, we have instigated a series of operational changes to reduce the non-chargeable burden on our broking staff.

He added: “We plan to explore how we can charge for our time more effectively through costing our hourly rates more accurately and perhaps through providing additional ‘value-added’ services to our clients.”
