Amazon teams up with bank giant and Warren Buffet firm in US assault

Amazon is teaming up with JP Morgan and Berkshire Hathaway to lower health premiums in the US.

The move will reignite fears that Amazon is moving into insurance, following revelations at the end of last year it was hiring people with insurance experience.

The trio have launched a not-for-profits healthcare firm to help almost 1m US staff workers and “potentially all Americans”.

Amazon belives the partnership will offer “scale and complementary expertise” and  “technology solutions”.

Workers are paying more than twice as much on healthcare, averaging $5,714, compared to 20 years ago.

Hathaway group has its own insurance firm, Berkshire Hathaway.
