Not to be a Scrooge but, this year, the Opera in the City Christmas concert seems a little reminiscent of the quote from Titanic: “Music to drown by. Now I know I’m in first class.”
Still, the fifth annual event is bound to lift the spirits of those working in the financial industry, even if it’s just for a lunch hour.
Louise Merrett, managing director of Sound Management (UK) and the event’s organiser, says: “Each year, Opera in the City transports its audience from the stresses of the City – never more poignant in the midst of the current economic turmoil.” She can say that again.
What’s more, it’s all for a good cause. This year’s concert is in aid of Classic FM Music Makers, which funds a number of music therapy and education projects around the country.
The event will take place at 1:05pm on Thursday 4 December at St Mary-le-Bow church, Cheapside. Visit www.classicfm.co.uk/musicmakers for more information.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
