Aon has begun uploading its reinsurance placements in real time using ri3k, the global reinsurance infrastructure.

Aon Re International chief executive Clement Booth said: "We wanted to find a secure system which gave us straight through processing for our brokers using Acord standards.

"Our decision to use ri3k was very much client driven. It is a fine piece of kit," he added.

So far, two to three clients have begun processing transactions via the reinsurance hub, according to Aon.

The ri3k infrastructure helps eliminate errors and duplications arising from double entry of data.

Ri3k chief executive Alex Letts said: “Aon is working with ri3k to lead the build out of the industry's electronic grid.

"Re-keying reinsurance data is being consigned to history at Aon, and that will support contract certainty and efficiency for its business and for its customers.”
