Chelsea fan scoops April prize

This month’s QBE fantasy football manager of the month award was collected by Gavan Connolly for scoring an impressive 88 points.

His team, Blanor, scooped the April prize as the Premier League season neared a dramatic ending.

Gavan, a senior broker at Aon, admitted he made a number of transfers at the start of the month before heading to Los Angeles for three weeks.

“I changed my team around a lot at the beginning of April which worked wonders,” he said. “I then arrived back from holiday and had a message on my phone saying I had won. So it was quite a nice welcome to get back to.”

He said his forward line of Aston Villa’s Gabriel Agbonlahor and Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor was crucial to his success, as well as the steady performance of Liverpool keeper Jose Reina.

Chelsea fan Gavan said he was disappointed that his team lost the title to Manchester United, but is delighted with his victory and vowed to spend more time on his fantasy team next season in order to improve his overall position.

“I have not kept an eye on it much this season and I finished quite low down, but I will definitely look at it every week from now on,” he said.
