Gooderson joins marine and specialty team from Brit

Argo International, the Lloyd’s insurer, has announced the appointment of Paul Gooderson as cargo underwriter in its marine and specialty division.

He takes up his new role with immediate effect, reporting to Philip Thorpe-Apps, head of marine and specialty.

With more than thirty years’ underwriting and managerial experience in the Lloyd’s market, Gooderson joins Argo from Brit Insurance, where he wrote cargo, specie and fine art business. Prior to this, he held cargo underwriting positions at Wren Insurance, Amlin and Chaucer.

Argo International managing director Jeff Radke said: “Paul has extensive cargo underwriting experience, longstanding market relationships and an excellent track record in developing profitable cargo accounts. We are pleased to welcome him to the growing Argo team.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
