New scheme covers builders’ merchants and associated trades

Commercial lines underwriting agency Arista has launched a new scheme with Merseyside broker Business Insurance Services (BIS).

The new scheme, called Tradesafe, provides cover for builders’ merchants and associated trades such as plumbing suppliers.

Tradesafe is targeted to reach £400,000 gross written premium in its first year, and Arista is in discussion with BIS for a further possible scheme for associated trades in 2013.

Arista said Tradesafe came about because of its exising relationship with BIS and because of the speed that Arista was able to deliver the scheme to market.

The scheme was developed as part of Arista’s desire to work with its brokers to introduce more schemes targeting insurance needs in particular locations or business sectors.

Arista chief executive Charles Earle (pictured) said: “Arista invests a lot of time and effort in developing our partnerships with brokers. The initiative to pool our mutual resources into developing schemes is a logical extension of that and is now growing rapidly.

“This is very much a national push for Arista and all of our regional teams are working closely with brokers to provide tailored insurance solutions for business needs in their locality.”
