Aviva up 4.3% but RSA falls

Aviva shares had jumped 4.3%, or 15.90p, to 383.20p at 9:45am following reports that RSA had bid 5bn for its general insurance arm.

This morning, Sky News reported that Aviva had turned down the offer from RSA, which is led by chief executive Andy Haste.

RSA shares were down 1.25%, or 1.60p, to 126.9p on the news.
