New AXA UK chief executive Paul Evans takes control

New AXA UK chief executive Paul Evans today begins his new role at the helm of the insurer.

Evans replaces Nicolas Moreau who is the new chief executive of AXA France, a move first tipped by Insurance Times in July.

AXA's UK general insurance business will continue to be headed by chief executive Philippe Maso.

Evans has held a number of key positions since joining AXA 10 years ago.

For the last seven years, he has been head of AXA UK’s life and savings operations, and was heavily involved in the £2.75bn sale of AXA's life and pensions business to Resolution earlier this year.

Prior to joining AXA in 2000, Evans spent 13 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in London and Toronto.
