Backchat was flicking through the editor's holiday snaps with the usual bored politeness this week, when he spotted this delightful snap – particularly given last week's story about Axa boss Andy Homer insisting Axa was not a French insurer.

Our grand fromage is pictured standing outside the offices of a well known “global” (see Andy, we have listened) insurer in the quaint seaside holiday town of St George de Didonne, which just happens to be in, er, well, France, actually.

As Private Eye might say: are the “global” insurer run by Andy Homer, and the other Axa by any chance related? Backchat thinks we should be told.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
