Backchat arrived promptly for the Airmic drinks reception last week to be met by David Gamble and just a couple of the council members. There were gallons of champagne available and Backchat pondered the risk of someone getting Euan Blair-style drunk and incapable and dragging down press opprobrium on their head.
But Gamble was clearly not living up to his name. He was, he made clear, absolutely confident that nobody would do such a thing.
Why? The risk management involved was all down to who was invited, Gamble explained.
It made working out who wasn't there a much more interesting pastime.
