Since when do people fight over quote engines? At this year's British Insurance Awards it seems.
Backchat has been informed that the awards ceremony hosted not only an exchange of prizes, but also a solid display of mudslinging between rival technology companies.
It all began when company A stated an interest in buying company B's quote engine - its "crown jewel". On the night of the awards, company B was told A had been chatting up company C about its quote engine.
Needless to say, company A received a barrage of abuse and has not managed to acquire any new quote engines since.
Lesson: Steer clear of the rivals' crown jewels.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
