Head of intelligence joins law firm

Law firm Beachcroft has appointed Bryan Houston as Head of Intelligence.

Houston has 22 years of operational military experience and was most recently the surveillance and covert penetration team manager for HM Armed Forces, a counter intelligence surveillance team.

In addition head of Beachcroft's claims validation team Lorraine Carolan has announced that she will be recruiting eight more intelligence analysts. The team will also be working more closely with the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB).

Carolan said: “We have grown our client base significantly over the last year and are now widely recognised as one of the leading fraud teams in the UK. The insurance industry has made significant advances in the detection and prevention of fraud in the last decade but there is still far more that can be done, particularly as fraudsters commit increasingly sophisticated and elaborate schemes. Bryan's operational experience as a professional intelligence officer - both as a manager and practitioner - will be invaluable to the team.

"We will also be expanding the team significantly this year with the appointment of eight more intelligence analysts. With this investment, Bryan's input and the IFB secondment we will add yet another dimension to our ringed fraud service to our clients. We are seriously committed to investing time and resource in this area demonstrated by the growth of our own Intelligence Team as well as this secondment."

Glen Marr, director of the Insurance Fraud Bureau, added: "Beachcroft is the first law firm to have collaborated with the IFB to provide an Intelligence Analyst. We welcome such a move and our door is open for others to follow suit and in doing so, support the IFB and the industry in its fight against fraud."

Bryan Houston added: "Beachcroft's fraud unit is the ideal move for me – the team has grown from 4 lawyers to 125 lawyers in the last five years and my skills in delivering bespoke intelligence will help the team continue to maintain its position as one of the most successful and experienced fraud detection teams in the UK."
