Benfield Group has this month opened an office in Bermuda to expand the its existing customer base in reinsurance market.
A spokesman said that having a stake in Bermuda would give Benfield a "strong foothold" for developing existing relationships and for introducing new business in the market.
"In addition, the office will assist Benfield in placing reinsurance and retrocession business from the group's global customer base with the island's reinsurers, as well as facultative and large corporate insurance accounts," he said.
Benfield's John Jenks will manage the Bermuda office.
