Lloyd's insurer adds John Whiter to its board

Lloyd’s managing agency Argenta Syndicate Management (ASML) has appointed John Whiter as non-executive chairman with immediate effect.

Whiter is a chartered accountant and until recently was chief financial officer of Benfield Group. Prior to joining Benfield in 1994, he was London senior partner of Lloyd’s specialist auditor Neville Russell (now Mazars).

Andrew Annandale, managing director of ASML and chief executive of ASML’s parent company, Argenta Holdings, said: “John’s considerable market knowledge and experience will be invaluable to the company as it seeks to continue to grow and diversify its Lloyd’s syndicate interests and it is a pleasure to welcome such a well-known and respected market figure to the ASML board at this exciting time in our evolution.

"I am also pleased that John’s predecessor as chairman, Richard Brewster, who has stepped down from the role after four years, has agreed to remain with ASML as a Non-Executive Director.”

John Whiter, chairman of ASML, added: “Argenta is a growing company and I look forward to being involved in its development. I am also keen to support Andrew and his team as they continue to build their various underwriting interests.”
