General insurance network Berkeley Alexander has assured IFA firms that it will continue to offer general insurance compliance support to all firms who wish to conduct "execution only" business.

The network's reassurance comes after the Treasury's announcement that the FSA is to replace the GISC as the general insurance industry's regulator by 2004.

Berkeley Alexander general manager Geoff Hall said: "Clearly IFAs should start as they mean to go on and join the GISC or decide if they are going to be execution only introducers and talk to us about setting up seamless procedures to transact general insurance but without any regulatory responsibility.

"Furthermore, if you join GISC, you may wish to discuss how we can help with compliance, training, assessment of staff or CPD."
