Protection provider Berkeley Alexander has launched hospitalCARE, a product that represents a development in the field of health insurance.

hospitalCARE, which is underwritten by Compass Underwriting at Lloyd's, includes access to confidential medical information and support, help with organising private treatment and a £5000 lump sum if you suffer critical illness.

Berkeley Alexander's general manager Geoff Hall said: "We believe we have achieved an excellent compromise between affordable premiums and decent cover in response to the spiralling cost of private medical insurance."
