Robin Wood Associates (RWA), as part of the BIBA Compliance Initiative, has held its first residential compliance managers' course.
In the week long programme, delegates were taken through the various stages of the skills needed to enable them to manage compliance and training and competence within their own organisations under current regulation.
Practical workshops were a key feature of the course, as well as specialist sessions delivered by Deloitte & Touche, and Reynolds Porter Chamberlain.
Delegates, who represented firms both national and regional, were put through their paces and the general consensus was that compliance does not necessarily equate to substantial additional expense. In particular it was felt that being competent to understand and carry out compliance tasks in house was more important than buying off the shelf solutions.
The course objective was that delegates should be able to design and implement a compliance strategy and to look forward from a position of strength to FSA rules and requirements.
Bookings are already being taken for the next course, which will run in October, and any firm interested in knowing more can obtain details from BIBA, or from RWA by emailing Ian Ritchie at ruy.lopez@rwassociates.softnet.co.uk
