The British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) has launched a consultancy service that is intended to help brokers prepare for FSA regulation when it is introduced in 2004.

The first stage of the service is a series of 14 roadshows that will be held around the country starting on 21 March in Belfast and ending up in London on 12 and

15 April. The roadshows will be held in conjunction with training and competency consultant RW Associates and hosted by Insurance Times.

The service also includes a subscription line and dedicated information service. A team of specialists will also be available to Biba members.

Biba chief executive Mike Williams said: " I am most impressed with what the FSA is trying to achieve and if Biba members are going to meet compliance standards in two years, I want them to have high quality guidance and I want it available to them now."

He said: "The roadshows are open to all. I believe the majority of brokers have the integrity and self discipline to meet the GISC and ultimately FSA standards and we don't want our members panicking as the cut-off date approaches early in 2004."
