Underwriting head will establish multi-line delegated authority offering

Gene Hinman BMS Pioneer Underwriting USA

BMS Group has appointed Gene Hinman to launch a US arm of its managing general agent (MGA) platform, Pioneer Underwriting.

Hinman, formerly senior vice president at Axis, will establish Pioneer USA, the MGA platform’s cross-class, multi-line delegated offering – providing accessibility to US agencies and markets. He will be based in Atlanta.

BMS chief executive Carl Beardmore said: “We are particularly pleased to welcome Gene to Pioneer and to continue to build out the platform. Gene is a highly-respected market-leader who will ensure that Pioneer is a success in the US market. This US platform will enable us to provide partnerships between a variety of Pioneer clients and BMS clients - to the mutual benefit of all. This is a genuine leap forward for BMS and Pioneer.”

Pioneer’s managing director Darren Doherty said: “Gene’s appointment signals our commitment to growing the business significantly.”

Hinman added: “I am excited to join Pioneer to continue the build out of the business.”
