New finance chief will be Scott Egan from Zurich

Brit Insurance has poached Zurich’s Scott Egan to be its group chief financial officer to replace Matthew Scales, who announced his intention to step down earlier in the year.

Egan has been Zurich’s group financial controller, based in Switzerland and CFO of Zurich UK. Before joining Zurich in 2007 he held numerous positions in Aviva including finance director of Norwich Union, UK General Insurance, and managing director of RAC Insurance.

Leadership skills

Dane Douetil, Brit’s chief executive officer, said: "Scott's technical credentials, leadership skills and industry knowledge will be invaluable to the Group as we continue to build on our strong industry franchise."

John Barton, Brit chairman, said: "I am delighted that we have attracted someone of Scott's calibre and look forward to his contribution to the future development of Brit Insurance."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
