GAB Robins has appointed former Royal & SunAlliance personal lines chief Steve Broughton as a non-executive director.

Broughton's appointment, which forms part of the reorganisation of GAB Robins' business into three strategic units, is part of a bid to boost the loss adjuster's corporate governance standards.

Under the plans, Robins Claim Solutions (RCS) managing director Margaret Clubley and Sergon managing director Arthur Rackstraw will report to GAB Robins managing director John Castagno.

They will work alongside Derek Coles, managing director of loss adjusting, who recently joined from Barclays Insurance Services.

In addition its finance, marketing, HR and IT departments will report to Castagno. A new operations board, chaired by Castagno, will oversee the company.

Castagno said: "This new structure gives very clear accountabilities as we accelerate our strategy to provide a complete claims management service to the insurance industry. In particular, our emerging businesses, RCS and Sergon, will have the opportunity to grow to their full potential alongside our core loss adjusting business."
