The ABI has commended Gordon Brown for freezing Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) and offered conditional support for proposed regulatory reforms.

ABI director of financial regulation and taxation, Peter Vipond, said: “The Government is right to freeze IPT. This is entirely justified by the fact that the Government took £2.4bn for the current tax year, charged on insurance products that provide protection to policyholders and their families.

"The Government's announcement of systematic reform of Britain's regulatory system is welcome news, but we will be looking for substantial policy changes to combat over-regulation."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
