Business planning is a difficult thing, but if you get it right, the cash and the plaudits will roll in.

Step forward EPG insurance, which specialises in heavy plant extended warranties.

In a press release on 6 November the company said: “EPG predicts a surge in demand for its specialist cover as commercial and home building programmes are set to explode in 2008.”

The folk at EPG must have gazed into their crystal balls and seen what the Queen was about to say only a few days later: the Housing and Regeneration Bill would require the creation of 3 million homes.

So what did EPG have to say about its predictions? “Well…it was a slice of luck.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
